Celebrating Fall with Children

11/23/2024

It seems appropriate for my very first blog post to be about my favorite season, fall: the colors, cooler weather, harvest delights– they all lend themselves to further exploration. Indeed, this is what I have been recently doing with various groups of children!

Going for walks, exploring the parts of pumpkins, taste testing apples and making a graph are just a few of the activities we have engaged in. Fall themed centers and stories have also been enjoyed.

Hoping these photos inspire you as we wrap up this special season, and check out a couple free Fall lessons available!

A tree with orange leaves. There are more trees in the background and many leaves covering the ground. On a table, there is a paper with the number 3 on it with 3 orange smiley face cutouts on it. A child’s arm is resting on the table. Labeled pumpkin pulp and part of the pumpkin’s shell on a table that a child is standing at. A plate with bowls, a scoop, and tiny round objects that look like pumpkins. Stuffed animals lying in the holes of a plush tree with orange leaves on it. A child eating apples at a table with scattered lesson materials including books about apples. An empty basket with blank paper squares next to it and a marker. A child sitting on an adult’s lap at a table, putting orange play-dough on a mini jack-o-lantern. Children indoors raking play leaves into a basket. The activiy in an earlier photo in use: a child scooping tiny pumpkins from one bowl into the other.
